DescriptionThe 28th release on microCastle sees the debut of David Granha to the label. The Spanish producer has gradually become one of the more well known and loved artists from the talent rich country of Spain. His unique brand of melodic techno includes releases on Sudbeat, Natura Sonaris, Afterglow and Proton. David's debut EP for microCastle is entitled 'We Have No Doubts' and it comes with 3 original productions and remixes from: Ryan Davis, Fairmont, Charlie May and Alexander Kowalski. The EP begins with 'Catch Me' which is a rolling melodic techno piece that weaves its way through a variety of musically twisted themes which eventually result in an emotionally exhilarating breakdown and driving climax to the composition. The first remix of 'Catch Me' is provided by Ryan Davis who is making his first appearance on microCastle here. We've long been fans of Ryan's work since his early productions on Parquet and Manual. More recently Ryan has been one of the primary artists on Traum Records where he released his first solo album in June of 2012 entitled 'Particles of Bliss' which received praise from both the media and his DJ contemporaries. A side from being one of Traum's biggest contributors Ryan has remixed famous artists like Sasha, Max Cooper, Dominik Eulberg, Pig & Dan and Luis Junior. His 'Catch Me' interpretation strips David's original right down and focuses on a warped but enchanting melodic theme which proves to be one of the best emotional pieces on the EP. The second remix of 'Catch Me' comes from Fairmont who is also making his debut on microCastle here. Jake Fairley aka Fairmont has built up a sizable and loyal fan base over his 10 year production career; his albums and singles on Border Community and Traum have firmly cemented his place in the melodic techno / electronica elite. More recently Jake has teamed up with My Favourite Robot Records for his latest album entitled 'Automation' which has just been released with much critical success. Fairmont's 'Catch Me' interpretation is rooted with a subterranean undulating groove which is accented with fresh aquatic styling's that perfectly complement the rolling framework. The main theme from David's original is showcased wonderfully by Fairmont amidst a wealth warped electronics and swirling atmospherics that all meld together nicely for a suitably twisted climax. The second original on the package is entitled 'Let Me Do It' and it would have to be considered one of David's most menacing productions to date. Backed by a granular backdrop along with a wealth of futuristic sound design and punishing dark energy David stretches the sonic boundaries to the max on this one. The remixes of 'Let Me Do It' are supplied by Charlie May who is returning to microCastle for his second appearance. One half of the revered progressive house pioneers Spooky; the engineer and producer of many of Sasha's biggest singles and albums and add to that remixing The Chemical Brothers, Orbital, Bedrock and Mandalay; Charlie May has been on the cutting edge of electronic music for the better part of the last 20 years. Charlie has provided two interpretations of 'Let Me Do It' with the first one being entitled 'Fragment Mix'. Here Charlie has taken the rolling melodic bass line from the original and created an entirely new framework around it with an abundance of lively drums, momentous rhythms, gleaming electronics and scattered snips from the sinister elements courtesy of David's original. Charlie's 'Acid Sprinkles' interpretation comes with a much more ominous vibe that includes some incredibly raw sound design, trippy electronic accents, momentous hypnotic elements and a relentless drive that is sure to push your dance floor to max. The final original on the package 'Any News' sees David focusing on a more straight forward, club friendly techno inspired sound. A tough groove roots the composition while a cool vocal stab and ravey lead provide a great epic flair to the piece. The lone interpretation of 'Any News' is provided by the Berlin based techno DJ / Producer / Live Act Alexander Kowalski. His DJ sets and live performances have been making waves throughout the electronic music underground for their tough techno sensibilities, deep harmonies. Alexander has been awarded the titles of best producer, best live act and has been a two-time nominee for the German dance award. His Damage Music imprint has been one of our favourite labels over the last two years as well so we are thrilled have him back on microCastle for his second appearance. . Alexander's 'Any News' interpretation takes the great melodic energy from David's original and reinvents it with a much warmer, harmonious vibe which flows masterfully towards the main drop. Here the slow build of melodic energy climaxes with some additional squelchy accents which play of the warm melodic foundation perfectly.
