DescriptionAs is often the case with Hypercolour releases, this was a track that label heads Jamie Russell, Alex Jones and Ste Roberts have been sitting on for a while. Keen to keep it a secret weapon for their own sets, they feel the time is now right to get it out here. As such, we introduce to you mysterious producer Lomez with his slowed and slurred anthem, 'Turning Heads.' The original version is a prowling deep house track that almost collapses under its own weight. A fresh male vocal speaks about turning heads and but for a kick drum, only the most subtle percussive punctuations fills out the groove. Warm Balearic chords and keys wash in a various points to take you to some lazy beach and sun down, and it's a set-ender extraordinaire as Talking Heads might make should they be active in the current underground house scene. On the flip, Alex Jones tackles the remix, re-tuning the track for more propulsive moments of the night. A simple kick clap combo sets the tone this time, with waify little bits of 90s, Nu Groove aping melody hidden right at the heart of it all. This one is a teasing slow builder that drops in little bits of vocal before fully coalescing at the mid-way point. The results match Jones usual knack for sleazy tech funk and offers a nice counter to the more lethargic a-side.
