Hector knows what makes dancefloors tick so its no surprise that The Ego E.P for One Records is formed of precise, driving house cuts, destined to feed wayward party spirits. Rob Mello and Tristan Da Cunha deliver impressive tonal twists with the b-side remixes. A-Side The Ego is a raw DJ weapon of crisp hi-hats and rolling dubby textures. The oscillating grooves and deep, gravelly vocal bring a moody edge that will hypnotise the dancefloor and
the intricate kicks will move it. Hector eloquently mixes up the old school with a modern techy twist and delivers this understated floor killer with ease. Next up, The Only Way, is a journey into the realms of deep, mellow house with absorbing, eerie atmospheres of Detroit-esque string pads and rhythmic vocal echoes. The pulsing bass and slo-mo old school groove will work the moody, late night dancefloor.
Flipping over to the B-side, Rob Mello injects old school stabs and melodic electronic beats into his The Ego (No Ears remix). A legendary figure on the London house scene, Rob and his aliases are inextricably linked to the classic house sound. With a seminal release on Boys Own and consistent quality output for Classic Records, Robs undying commitment to music and ability to throw a rave has given him cult status among his peers.
Tristan Da Cunha provides the grittiest cut of the package with his killer bass-driven remix of The Ego. Throbbing sub bass, tough, thrusting kicks and retro grooves make for a tasty final
instalment and complete this set of razor sharp DJ tools. Tristan da Cunha, a name synonymous with the legendary Backtobasics parties and the UK's pioneering electronic label 2020vision recordings, has been playing and providing a wide selection of the hottest underground music for 10 strong years.
Hector has been a mainstay of the London party scene since he swapped his life in Mexico as a budding resident DJ for the capital and joined the line-up in everyones favourite record store, Phonica. Hectors knowledge and infectious passion for cutting-edge music transformed him into one of the shops most recognizable faces, and he was the first producer to launch Phonicas in-house label in 2009. Hector has since gained success on major labels mobilee, Horizontal, Crosstown Rebels and One Records welcome him into their growing family of raw talent.
