Sensual Season

  • Description For the third release on Silk Textures, Polish artist Quarrel serves up the "Sensual Season" EP, with the apt lead single, "Spring." The Original Mix kicks off with a dancing arpeggio and a classic deep bass, establishing the mellow mood that permeates the rest of the track. A pristine piano part enters the fray as well, along with a few long, gentle pad sweeps. Label veteran Luiz B, who has had a busy "season" himself with a slew of new productions and a recent guest mix on Matt Darey's "Nocturnal" Radio Show, seizes the light, atmospheric energy of the original and makes it his own. With emphasis on piano and a few other "crystalline" synth sounds, Luiz manages to turn his interpretation into a more melodic and uplifting experience. The second original, "Autumn," is a more foreboding journey, yet the payoff in the breakdown is quite rewarding. An evocative and sexy lead synth element is introduced, which carries the tune to its completion. Nick Stoynoff, one of the leading deep-progressive artists of his generation, offers a standout take: his version is stripped-down, as he has chosen to focus on (and enhance) the moody textural elements. Finally, Dutch mastermind Sandji offers the "Indian Summer Tour" Remix, in which lead elements of the original are brilliantly sampled and mixed back into a rather cinematic aural landscape.
