Andrew Concha aka Shambala s passion for music began in his home country of Colombia. Growing up in both South and North America, his unique and rich hybrid of backgrounds and influences are reflected in both his music and his uncanny talent to get the masses off their asses and grooving on the dance floor.
Playing alongside such talents as Mark Farina, LTJ Bukem, Uberzone, Bassnectar and most recently Colette, Chuck Love, and Chus & Ceballos, Shambala over time has both mixed tunes and produced tracks in almost every genre known to the electronic world. As he focuses in on minimal & tech house sounds, he maintains the grooves and depth of funk, Latin, progressive and deep house, seamlessly creating an array of luscious music, full of bass, that s powerful while still maintaining a fresh, fun vibe.
A multifaceted artist, Shambala has also been a host, sound engineer, promoter and featured DJ for many music festival and events, including Warehouse Party residencies in San Francisco, Oakland & Berkley, countless Earthdance festivals around the US, and numerous Winter Music Conferences in Miami Beach, Florida.
The Miami and Tampa area have also been a recent favorite of DJ Shambala s gigs, including such venues as Club Space, Hotel Clinton, Laundry Bar & Hotel Raleigh in Miami, as well as Jackson s, AJA Channelside & The Mangroves in Tampa.
Shambala s latest feature release is The Next Best Thing - a collaborative tech-house track with Ashley Albritton, a talented musical artist and DJ from San Francisco. Together this dynamic duo found their creative spark in an effort to create new sounds, producing this groovy track with multiple layers of funk that s equally pleasing to the ears as it is to the body and soul.
As his fan base mounts and the musical buzz surrounding Shambala grows, he continues to live and breathe music every day....never stopping the persistent search for what s next, for that new sound, that elusive beat that drives us all. Let it Be House!
Ashley Albritton is a musician, producer and dj from Tampa, FL. He has been producing electronic dance music for ten years and djing for nearly as long. His sound deftly blends rhythmic complexity with analog melodic lines and driving bass, with the focus always on the dance floor. His dj sets blur the line between deep house and tech house with utmost attention paid to the groove and how it affects the crowd.
He spent his teens playing punk rock, blues and teaching himself classical guitar. One instrument always felt limiting to him so when he discovered the possibilities producing electronic music he was immediately hooked.
While in college studying physics, Ashley learned the art of producing electronic music where he focused on drum and bass and experimented with a little bit of everything.
In 2005, a trip to Europe forever changed his musical direction. It was at a festival in Holland where he was first exposed to minimal house and techno; a week in Ibiza sealed his fate. From that point on, Ashley focused his productions on house, favoring the stripped back minimal sound that embodied a style heavy on percussion and melody.
Ashley moved to Oakland in 2007 to get involved in the underground warehouse scene in the San Francisco Bay Area. He cut his teeth and refined his djing skills weekly at clubs like 222 Hyde in San Francisco and The Oasis in Oakland, as well as countless after-hours and undergrounds. The opportunity to play alongside and listen to the Bay Areas finest techno and house djs every weekend was a real education. This experience makes Ashley equally at home warming up a techno party or playing an early morning deep house set.
2010 sees Ashley back home in Tampa working hard making new music. His studio has evolved away from software and more towards playing analog synthesizers, samplers, and drum machines, focusing on ease and speed of recording ideas.
