  • Description The influential Southern Fried Records label turn to two pairs of heavyweight producers for their next EP. These come in the form of Hard Logic aka Lawrie Dunster and Francesca Lombardo, and Channel Xero aka Lawrie Dunster and Keith Tenniswood.

Keith Tenniswood has of course long been a pioneering figure in the scene thanks to his electro work as Radioactive Man and experimental techno output as Two Lone Swordsmen with Andrew Weatherall. Here he pairs off as Channel Xero with Lawrie Dunster, founder of the techno label Pounding Grooves and an alumnus of labels like CLR and Tortured. Lawrie then also teams up with Francesca Lombardo a vocalist, keyboard player, DJ and producer who has released on labels like Crosstown Rebels - as Hard Logic.

First up is Hard Logics Resonecho, a snarling bit of rubbery, pounding mid tempo techno that is coloured with fizzing lines, watery rushes and gurgling synths. Its a deep cut that is made all the more human by the crystal clear tones of Lombardo, which cut through the murky sonics all around. Its an epic track that will stand out in any set.

Hard Logics other contribution is Acid Conga. This one is another dense and humid brew of wavy tones, bustling drums and subtle vocal coos. It feels tropical and trippy and rides up and down an undulate groove for seven sensory stimulating minutes.

Finally, Channel Xero get freaky with their trippy Music Never Lets Me Down (feat. Lisa Thornton). This one is a steely brew of jagged electro lines, weird spoken word vocals and super sharp hi hats. Its intense and physical and builds to a neurotic peak as heavily treated vocals repeat the tracks title.

These are three seriously arresting productions that are stuffed with attitude and noir charm in equal measure
