  • Description After a hiatus, FutureForm Music makes a welcome return to the underground dance arena with a compelling blend of original and remix material formed around the work of Australian Queenslander, Rich Curtis. For Curtis, 2013 began as it was set to continue with an inclusion on Pig and Dan's "Raveline Mix Session" and a remix from the iconic house duo of his track, "Lower My Voice". Simultaneously juggling a global DJ tour schedule across his homeland and South America, his immaculate production methods and trademark sound found their way onto Proton Music, Mesmeric and Stripped with impressive regularity. Starting 2014 in similar fashion, "Latitude End" is a sublime blend of rhythmic groove coupled with an emotive blend of rippling, modulating arpeggios that swim effortlessly against a tide of warm pulsating pads. Through its delicious build and rousing crescendo, dance floor fervour is certain to follow.

Brazilian, Andre Sobota, needs no introduction to the modern dance music scene. Shifting between genres and styles with consummate ease, his work remixing Coldplay and Rihanna's "Princess of China" for EMI, launched him onto a global stage. Furthermore, work for Enhanced, Perfecto and Toolroom, sits comfortably alongside releases on Konstrukt, Mesmeric and a strong relationship with microCastle has been forged. Turning his attentions to Rich Curtis, his remix of "Latitude End" is a simmering, groove-laden gem with enough dynamism, drive and melodic vibrancy to secure dance-floor domination for the remainder of 2014. Taking elements from Curtis' original, Sobota's skill and technique are in full evidence here and it is with great excitement that he debuts here on FutureForm.

Third offering comes from Dutch maestro, Noraj Cue. Raised in a family where music played an integral part in his development, early experimentations have ultimately led to a century of Beatport production credits illustrating the strength in his craft. A regular on Paul Hazendonk's Manual Music, Black Hole, Stolen Moments and Fever have all played host to the Noraj Cue sound with collaborative work alongside Hazendonk for Proton Music in 2013, and 2014's "Inner Monologues" for Lowbit providing a very bright start to the year. A soft, lilting hypnotic vibe provides the backdrop for the Noraj Cue remix of "Latitude End". Filtered stabs elicit rhythmic joy as they build in character in front of intricate pad motifs and ticking hit-hat pattern in understated fashion.

Final contribution comes from Krohn himself, in his successful Verve guise. A versatile talent, his ability to forge a new innovative sound from an eclectic blend of techno, minimal and trance has been clearly demonstrated with his work for such luminary imprints as Lowbit, Particles and Intricate. Supported by the international DJ community, the unique and peerless dedication to his craft has been well rewarded. Making a signature statement with his remix of Rich Curtis, a growling, filtered bass line is soon accompanied by a series of distorted analogue stabs that melt into a magnificent groove as they ricochet across the stereo spectrum in deep delight. Pulsing pads and chunky rhythms complete the picture as the elements rise and fall in endless harmony.

Afforded considerable latitude by Rich Curtis' meticulous offering. Andres Sobota, Noraj Cue and Verve have all excelled in ensuring no end is in sight.
