Komodo Pt. 1

  • Artists Vyranis, Krista Beckley
  • Release Date 2013-06-20
  • Labels Temple Music Group
  • Catalog TMG070
  • Description Komodo Pt. 1 is the first part of a three-part album project by San Francisco based artist Vyranis. Already deriving his name from the Komodo genus (Varanus komodoensis), Vyranis found it all too fitting to call his
first debut album Komodo, as an introduction to his flair, style, and soundscape. Just like the wild dragon
compromises to no other species, this album doesnt compromise to existing genre norms, blending and
styling quite a few in the process.
The first track, Music Box, was inspired by The Glitch Mob and the more cinematic dubstep pieces that have been released. Even though the track contains a typical wobble bass and dub drum pattern, the haunting melodies and themes introduced in the beginning burst forth from a truly different mold.
Be Free was a combination of three influences. A strong influence from the vocal styling and mainroom house vibes of artists like Kaskade. The sultry female vocalist highlights these aspects perfectly. Blended with the mid tempo funkiness and bass-rockin beats of artists like Kill Paris, and finally fused with the compositional and glitch elements of house artists like Madeon.
The final track, Iguanodon, pulls influences from trap heavyweights Diplo and Gent & Jawns, but also introduces familiar melodic stylings of bass guitar lines. The end result is a ground-shaking trap song with catchy accessible guitar stylings, sure to be a new crowd favorite.
