  • Description The concept of re-imagining someone else's artistic expression has been around since the beginning of recorded sound. From initial experiments with tape loop manipulation in the 50s, through soundclash culture in Jamaica, musicians have always been drawn toward reworking others' creations. Unbound by the limitations of the past, today's technology allows for the exacting and fast-paced recreation of music while retaining what is technically known as 'The Feeling'. The music of the first remix single from the Project Fifty-One back catalog are perfect examples of the advanced methods. A. Marvel as Dom & Gridlok's 'Hooked' is twisted into a menacing exercise in determining exactly how far sound can be pushed before it becomes dangerously impacful. Those responsible for this subversive behavior make no effort to conceal their identity, as Tech Itch & Dieselboy revel in the vindictive irony of demanding even greater strength of influence. Maliciously pristine drum work and jackhammer bass tones create a thrill ride so intense that the manic ups and downs don't let up when it becomes too much to handle. AA. Not known for easing up when the record is flipped, Gridlok & Controlled Substance's 'Witch Hunt' receives a massive reworking from one of it's original creators: Controlled Substance himself. Crafting the essential moody components of the original into pure dancefloor mayhem is no small feat, but Ctrl-S does so with effortless ease. Epic, aggressive and forward-thinking are all ideas that will occur to anyone who allows themselves to get lost in this torrent of grinding metal harmony. The good news is, Pendulum, C4C, Dieselboy, Silver, and many, many others are caught up far worse than you.
