  • Description Gruuv 014 showcases up and coming Bulgarian producer and Chervilo resident Pavel Petrov

The title track Friends Forever is a little different from the sounds we usually present; a captivating piece of music with an ensemble of strings and choir like voices. It could be as much part of a film score as a DJ set and you just cant help but be drawn in by its charm.

Fever is a more straight up house cut, full of thick pads rising and falling throughout the track, punctuated with vocal snippets and held together with ethnic drums and a fat sub bass.

On remix duty we head west and introduce San Franciscos young buck Ardalan. His Nicks Episode remix on Worthys Anabatic label was a staple part of our DJ sets for the latter part of last year and we thought hed relish working with these strings. He did, resulting in this stripped back club jacker which retains all the emotion of the original in the breaks and hits you with raw drums before soothing you with warm bass and strings again.

For the Fever remix we kept it West Coast turning this time to Seattle native and Freerange / 8 Bit regular Pezzner who also keeps the feeling of the original making use of the fat pads and vocal licks and adding a funk bass line that could be straight from a 70s disco track to serve up the groove and bring a fresh perspective.

like the stripped down groove on ardalan's mix, fever original very club freindly and useful, but pezzner's mix is right on the money.

    Pezzner remix has that vibe

I think Pavel Petrov will have a bright future in front of him if he further develops his craft and doesn't get caught up in musical trends. Good luck to him!
