DescriptionSouthern Fried records combine the recently-gone-solo talents of Bot with legendary house vocalist Robert Owens for their next release, and bolster the already strong package with great remixes from Fur Coat, Riton, Sona Vabos & X-Press 2 as well as fast rising talent Eagles & Butterflies.
Since leaving an established dance group, Bot has served up plenty of great music on his own label Main Course as well as Fake Bloods Blood Music and even got licensed to Fake Bloods Fabric Live 69 compilation. As such he has turned plenty of heads and is sure to do so again with this new single.
Friday Pulse is an amped up House anthem with stomping kick drums, curious feathery synth motifs and spoken word ad-libs from the great vocalist that is Robert Owens. He muses on the greatness of Fridays and getting paid and barrelling beats help add to the sense of excitement and abandon. With a great breakdown and more rawness in the second half, this is sure to be one of the most floor filling tunes of the winter.
First up on remix is Crosstown Rebels act Fur Coat, who re-imagine the track as a deeper and more mysterious bit of late night house complete with trippy melodies whilst Riton, known remixing MIA and collaborating with the likes of the late DJ Mehdi, pitches his remix somewhere between the two. Its big and bold but also deep, with spitting hooks, squirming synths and plenty of drawn out tension.
Then its the turn of Sona Vabos & house veterans X-Press 2, who decide to go for a kicking old school house vibe on their remix. Owens vocals are made much smooth and creamier and the chord stabs and sharp percussion help drive it along in a deep cut groove.
Finally, Eagles & Butterflies, who is self-releasing his own fine house as well as releasing on John Digweeds Bedrock, turns in two versions one is a twisted, dark and haunted mood track with gloopy basslines and plenty of intricate little sonic details the other is a dub.
There truly is something for everyone on this fresh house package, from old school to new school and everything in between.
