Fire Me Up

  • Artists Sister Bliss, I Said No
  • Release Date 2013-05-14
  • Labels Junkdog Records
  • Catalog JNKDG04
  • Description The next release on Sister Bliss' fledgling Junkdog label is the debut from London based duo 'I Said No' I Said No is a 10 year culmination of experience between two friends, Dan Smith and Tom Puttick who met in 2003, spending the entire summer hanging out and spinning records for friends in the sun. Vowing to one day write music together and battling 10 years of best intentions, the stars have finally aligned and they've set up studio in Wimbledon, a stone's throw from Dan's mastering studio @ Finyl Tweek. In 2010, Dan's business partner, Shane (or the Cutter as he's better known), mastered Faithless' last album 'The Dance'. During the time, a beautiful synergy was formed around the love of high quality sounding music. Dan got to know Blissy & Rollo when remixing their single 'Tweak Your Nipple'. Jump to December 2012, the world had survived the apocalypse and I Said No had began putting beat to bass. One late evening, after mixing down the first version of Fire Me Up (then called Cutting Up A Hologram...long story), they sent the early version to Blissy to get feedback on the mix. She was an immediate fan and the rest, as they say, is History. On vocal duties, I Said No teamed up with the articulate, expressive and eloquent Ella Chi, a long time collaborator with Dan since their days in college around the same time. A series of cool coincidences led to the vocals being recorded at Abbey Road - We said the stars had aligned - and the results speak for themselves. The I Said No sound comes on strong with the swagger of a 21st Century Basement Jaxx on a dark night in Berghain, or Basement Tech, if you will. With the second single already well under way in the studio, and tracks already being pencilled for an album, you can expect to hear a lot more from these guys in the near future. 10 years of wild experience and pent up inspiration have finally come together. The tap has burst and the juices are flowing. Fire Me Up is released on Junk Dog on May 15th and includes an explosive remix from label head Sister Bliss,
