DescriptionRussia has provided a rich seam of talent in the world of EDM over recent years and hailing from its cosmopolitan capital, Asten has proved a central cog in an increasingly powerful machine. This standing was ably demonstrated by his reaching the coveted number 1 status on Beatport's 'Must Hear Progressive Chart' with his remix of Juan Deminicis' "Outstanding" on Particles in October 2012. Running his own label Aura alongside Escenda has provided a further outlet for his own productions and two additional tracks featured on the 2012 Summer Particles compilation earlier this year.
Now Asten returns to Particles with a brand new production, "Escape From The Deep", full of his trademark melodic craftsmanship and crisp rhythmic percussion to produce a track of melodic reflection, perfect for the autumn months. Alongside Asten's original, three high-class remixes complete this impressive EP.
Inkfish is a name long-associated with the utmost quality in the world of dance music over the last 15 years. Originally formed as a quartet of Swedish producers in 1998, their music has been supported by the world's finest DJs and featured on such marquee labels as Armada, Renaissance, Bedrock and Mirabilis. Their own label Inkish Recordings has also been home to a wealth of their own production material with their "Sekt" show on Proton Radio also providing, "sneaky beats and secret weapons" to the masses. With a number of cross-genre Beatport chart hits to their name, the Inkfish remix of "Escape From The Deep" has been crafted by Mattias Lindblom, one of two regular remixers for the production outfit. Lindblom's remix is a powerhouse of straight driven beats, and sublime melodic layers which coalesce to provide energy enough to keep any dance floor moving and shaking.
From his studio in the Russian city of Cherkessk near the Black Sea, Andrew Benson has been responsible for a number of progressive gems since his first release on Olaris in 2010. With tracks signed to Nueva Digital, Balkan Connection and Spring Tube, Andrey Malookov's work on Particles has proved increasingly popular. With his 2011 Fall Particles track "Underwater" recently receiving remix treatments from Maxi Valvona and Martin Etchegary, Andrey follows up this anniversary with his beautiful "I Will Be" featuring on the forthcoming 2012 Fall compilation. Remixing Asten, Andrey (as Andrew Benson) has provided a delightfully deep and emotive trademark interpretation, skillfully echoing the melodic themes of Asten's original in his use of original elements, while adding his own distinctive blend of dark bass, haunting breakdown and dance floor energy.
The third Russian to make their appearance on this release is the Denis Grebenkov led production trio, Escenda (which also include singer and guitarist). Although only relative newcomers to the world of EDM, since May 2011 Escenda have notched up an impressive portfolio of releases on Moonbeam, Nueva, Fatali and their own Aura Music imprint co-founded with Asten earlier this year. Echoing the sentiments of the title track, Escenda have produced a deep tech-driven affair that builds effortlessly with a haunting lead line to reach an arpeggio-laden climax.
With Asten, Inkfish and Escenda providing the escape route, the 'deep' has never looked so inviting.
