DescriptionRounding off an impressive debut year Moscow Records is delighted to uncover another rare gem from the London underground just in time for the festive period. John Monkman is a producer with serious credentials: he has been working as a co-producer with Bryan Ferry for his new album, has scored
adverts for Mario Testino, toured his music around the globe from the beaches of Brazil to the fields of Glastonbury, and has produced a critically acclaimed album! The only reason that he remains a discreet presence is due to the many aliases he has adopted over the years and as a testament to his humility - here is a producer that does not crave the limelight but is more content delving deep into his work in the studio.
This dedication to his craft is beautifully reflected in this double A single. Beija-Flor layers distant analog atmospheres with a slow rolling tech-house groove to compliment the organic ebb and flow, this is intermittently disrupted by overloaded samples and vocal snippets to create stunning leads that are sure to
entrance and captivate the audience. Bora Bora serves up a deep jacking beat that subtly evolves over it's course, weaving between faint hints of melody and mystic vocals that demonstrate the precise detail and virtuosity of John's productions, providing a highly rewarding experience for the listener. Released as 300 limited press vinyl and as a digital download.
John Monkman's productions form a kicking techno/house hybrid with washes of blissful electronica and warm analog grooves. He recently soundtracked a Dolce & Gabanna TV commercial (produced by Mario Testino) and remixed Bryan Ferry (Roxy Music). His first release on Furthur Project Recordings ('Phono Spirit') was met with acclaim and featured a popular remix by Anglo-berliner Lee Jones. John also manages his own label Ultradeluxe Recordings, delivering uncompromising tracks, built for the dancefloor, with musicality and finesse.
