DescriptionDrawing on dubstep, soul, ambient electronica, jazz and dub, Submotion Orchestra have been making waves and rapidly building a significant reputation as one of the most intriguing ensembles to surface in the last 12 months. Their deep bass driven grooves combine with an ethereal piano, a plangent trumpet, and deft percussion to create the perfect setting for the fragile beauty of Ruby Woods' vocals and the celestial electronics of sound designer Ruckspin. The result is something that is really quite special.
Right from the off live has been a key strength of the band. Their debut release, the Finest Hour EP, released on hip underground label Ranking Records lit up the world of the musical digerati unleashing torrents of Twittery and some heavy Facebook action. It also brought the ensemble to the attention of a certain Gilles Peterson, who instantly became a believer. Mucho play on the aforesaid Mr Petersons show ensued, followed by a license for Finest hour on his Brownswood Bubblers album series, a series which had already featured such notable talent as Jamie Woon, Flying Lotus and Floating Points and then to round off a brilliant year there was the ultimate seal of approval with a Radio 1 Live at Maida Vale session.
Beautiful track! Pure bliss

The vocal on this has a real Sade quality - really nice. I think I can give this a couple of spot spins.
