Fresh London based label *Abode* delivers its third instalment with *Heretic A Curse EP* set to drop March 2014.
Heretic is the new solo project of *Timothy Clerkin*, better known as one half of London duo the *Eskimo Twins* who have seen releases on labels such as *Clouded Vision, Mako Records* and *Wax:On Music*. A Curse EP is dedicated to the memory of Clerkins favourite author Christopher Hitchens, the name deriving from a sample from the writer within the title track itself. This will be his second solo release as Heretic following on from his *Geodesic EP* on Days of Being Wild which saw major support from *Erol Alkan*, *Andrew Weatherall* and *Chloe*.
To kick things off A Curse is a captivating and brooding affair where Heretic utilises Hitchens thought provoking vocal sample describing religion as a curse in and around a mix of 808-led acid sounds to take you on an undulating journey through house chords and swollen basses. Tim doesnt pull any punches for the second track of the EP, Sharia Law, with an energetic all acid assault on the senses.
On Remix duty Bina and Sam Berdah aka *Club Bizarre* deliver a well-rounded revision of A Curse, choosing to replace those acid intonations with an eerie piano arpeggio while Abode label boss John-Paul Denton aka *XY-Me* steps up to remix Sharia Law and keeps the powerful biting tones of the original to work them through a multitude of strong hooks and distorted sounds.
*Heretic A Curse EP is released in digital on Abode 24th March 2014*
