DescriptionThe Haul Music tractor rolls on at full steam. Do tractors run on steam? Well, not since the 1800s. We don't have any old tractors lying around, but as techno enthusiasts we do fancy the idea of collecting machinery. Anyway, none of that has anything to do with Adrian Miles, the newest addition to the Haul Music family of incredible Australian artists. Though, after listening to his incredible debut release on Haul, you'd be forgiven for assuming that Adrian Miles had some kind of affinity with the world's oldest continent, Africa, rather than its newest. Adrian's percussion, his rhythm, and the incredible vocals are surely African. While it's not strictly Adrian's own vocals featured here, rather an explosive and energetic arrangement of resampling, it is perhaps his own attempt to visualize (or auralize) the voice of that oldest of continents. Either way, when we refer to Adrian's vocals it brings back awkward memories of hearing him singing in the shower. Meanwhile, Mike Callander (the Australian) and Craig McWhinney (another Australian) have remixed Adrian's tribal masterpiece into two entirely different dancefloor tools. Mike's signature staccato-fuelled arrangements are perhaps more representative of house music from Chicago than anywhere else, while Craig's smoother, more refined approach oughta make the ladies move from Berlin to Baltimore. So, chances are, you'll be able to dance to at least one of the tracks on this exciting package. Be sure to tell us which one gets your steam-engine running.
